*~*THEY PLAN*~*
Spike quickly made his way to the basement of the abandoned warehouse he and Angel were using for a home. His mind was on Jennifer the whole time and he was arguing with himself.
How could he be falling in love so quickly? Cordelia said “time was against them” and “hurry your asses up” but this was ridiculous. He’d only been here a couple of weeks and already he knew it was happening; for Angel too. He smiled. It was about time Peaches started to settle. His smile widened. He guessed it was about time he settled as well.
He stopped outside of the warehouse. She was falling for him too. She invited him to stay. She didn’t seem the type to do that lightly. He remembered the familiar feel of his lust. He had wanted to stay. He had lusted after many chits in his time, but when lust coupled with love it was damn hard to resist. His smile broadened when he thought of the upcoming night when he wouldn’t have to hold back. He walked inside the warehouse, going to the basement, thoughts of that night still on his mind, the smile still on his lips.
“What took you so long?” Peaches. Spike looked at Angel. He was sitting on the floor, leaning his back against the wall. He had been brooding. Spike rolled his eyes.
“The question, Peaches, is why didn’t you stay out longer?” Spike watched him.
“Megan practically threw me out. She suspects something is up.” Spike nodded. He figured as much. His mind remembered her most recent painting. She was becoming aware of something unnatural.
“So what was the problem?”
“I wanted to wait until you were there. She thought we were plotting to hurt them or something and wanted to know where you took her sister. I told her I’d explain when we could both be there and she flipped. Well, she actually flipped before, but that didn’t help.”
Spike rolled his eyes.
“So we tell them tonight.” Angel looked up at him.
“Do you think that’s a good idea?”
“Well we can’t very well leave them be now can we?” He started to pace, knowing Angel was going to continue.
”I don’t really think that telling them we are vampires is going to solve this, Spike. She was pretty upset. She started in a barrage of question and ended by slamming the door in my face. Besides what if they aren’t the ones? There must be a few hundred twins in New York City.”
“Oh please, Peaches. You are quite the Sherlock aren’t you? Oh yeah, quite a strange coincidence that Megan painted you so accurately she could probably name the brand of nancyboy hair gel you use to get your hair that way. Even bigger a coincidence is her twin sister writing so in depth about me that she described the accent, the hair, and the attitude, all without having met me. Get over it. They are the right ones.”
“What if she doesn’t want to see me again?” Spike almost laughed at that.
“Cor, I am glad that Cordelia sent the brains of this operation with you, Peaches. What exactly did she say to you before you left?” Spike looked at him, his eyebrows raised in expectation. Angel took a breath before answering.
“She said not to come back without the explanation.” Spike rolled his eyes again.
“See! She didn’t say don’t come back. She said come back, with an explanation. You really can be dense sometime, Poof. Face it. You’re in love.” Spike smiled triumphantly. Angel looked at him as if to point out something else. Spike lost his smile. “And I’m in love with Jennifer,” he admitted. Angel just sighed.
“So how much do we tell them?”
“Well we can’t lie to them, because they have to come willingly. Isn’t really willingly if we lie to them. But we can’t tell them about the prophecy either, because that would break another rule. So we tell them we are vampires.”
Angle stood up and started to pace.
“She didn’t ask what we were, she asked what we wanted and how we found them. She wants to know how we know of them, how come we swapped sisters, and she will want to know why we are here.”
“So we tell them that we are vampires and that we are here because they are our destiny. We are here to fall in love with them. We don’t have to lie to do this, Angel. All of that is true.” Spike took of his duster, rolling it into a pillow and placing it where he planned on sleeping, but didn’t lie down. He knew this conversation was not over yet.
Angel was silent for a moment, pondering the prophecy.
“What if telling them this ruins things? If they refuse to go we will be brought back. The prophecy will come true and God help everyone if that happens.”
“Well then I guess you better take your charm out and dust it off, Peaches. You do remember how to be charming don’t you?” He smiled down at Angel his scarred eyebrow raised mockingly.
One minute Angel was on the floor narrowing his eyes and then next he had Spike pinned against a wall. His face changed, the softness evaporating as parts of his face jut out and sunk in making each and every fold of his skin change and harden. His eyes went amber and seemed sunken in a little. Fangs were the focus of his twisted smile, the smile that always seemed to be on this face. That smile was more dangerous than the rumble of the growl that Spike heard coming from deep in his throat.
Spike smiled at Angel. He loved getting under Angel’s skin.
“You can’t kill me, poof. It would violate one of the rules, doncha know.” Spikes face transformed as well, his blue eyes amber, his teeth just as sharp, his face just as changed. “So back off, Peaches.”
Angel quickly smacked him against the wall again, and let go, his face returning to its angelic appearance. Spike smiled his vampire smile before letting his game face go. He straightened his shirt and lay down on his jacket.
“We’ll tell them tonight. Then we’ll leave them be for a while. Let them digest the information. Then we’ll test the waters again, mate.” He closed his eyes, feeling the weight of the day on him.
Angel returned to his place against the wall. He wanted to think about tonight before he slept. Angel brooded, remembering Megan’s anger. Spike slept, remembering Jennifer’s kiss.
